Crowns are a full coverage restoration often used to restore teeth which have large carious lesions, on a tooth which is having a large restoration replaced, or on teeth which have had root canal therapy on them. Their purpose is to help prevent fractures on teeth that are structurally compromised.
Crowns can be made in multiple ways from various materials ranging from all porcelain, porcelain fused to metal, or a full metal crown. A minimum of two appointments is often necessary to complete the procedure.
